This year s problem was an extremely challenging one that resulted in a decline in submitted reports for ICM from 1329 teams in 2012 to 957 teams this year. It is announced in this issue that network science and / or social network analysis will continue to be the top- ical area for next year s problem as well . So, for teams who want to prepare early for next year s contest, prepare by studying network modeling and assembling a team with that subject in mind . The ICM continues to be an opportunity for teams of student s to tackle challenging, real-world problems that require a wide breadth of under- standing in multiple academic subjects.
