Abstract：Theautomatictoolchanger(ATC),whichincludesamagazine,atoolchangerandacontrolsystem,isoneofthekeycompomentsofthemachiningcenter(MC),GeneralissuesoftheATC,however,areitsslownessandlowstabilityduringtoolchangesandthecomplexityofcontrolsystemprogramming.Tosolvethoseproblems,onetypeofsoftwareanditsinternalPLCtechnologywereinverstigated.BasedonananalysisofthefundamentalstructureandoperatingprincipleoftheATCsystemandaresearchofthecontrolprocedureofthe“discwitharm”-typeATC,thePLCprogramandmacroprogramscombinedwithServoWorksCNCtechnologyweredeveloped.Finally,itwasshownthatnewlydesignedcontrolsystemcancompletethewholeprocessofchangingtoolsin4to6secondsontheYY-1060verticalMC.Theresultsindicatethattheprocessisrapid,accurateandreliableenoughtocompletelymeetthepracticalrequirements.
