Warm up Exercise: Self-introduction and making new friends (20 MINS) 1. The teacher will begin with a brief self-introduction 2. Ask Ss to talk about their best friend in college 3. Get the students to introduce each other in pairs. 4. Invite some students to introduce their new classmate to the whole class. II Some skills of Listening (10 MINS) 1. Some tips: Tip 1: If you don't understand something right away, don't give up. Keep listening. The speaker might say something later that will help you understand the main idea. Tip 2: Think about the situation and ask yourself these questions: Who is speaking? What is the relationship between the speakers? Why are they talking about? Where are they? When does the story happen? How do they feel? Tip 3: Listen with a specific purpose in mind. Ask yourself what you are listening for. Are you listening for general understanding of the whole lecture or conversation? Or are you listening for specific information? Pay attention to the grammatical words such as but ,yet ,though, although, first ,second, then, next ,last ,before, because ,as ,for, in fact and so on. Tip 4: Pay attention to the beginnin
