This is a discursive rather than an argumentative essay because it asks students to?discuss?what other qualities are and does not ask whether students to?agree or disagree?with the statement. Agree or disagree?are words typical?for argumentative essay. We do not give our standpoints in the introduction of a discursive essay but we do so in argumentative one by saying I strongly agree that .... Our standpoint in discursive essay is only given in the conclusion. ? Step 1 : Break down the question into important components which you must answer in your writing. Writing en essay in exam is in fact answering a question. ? After breaking down, the components become( students normally have this ability)?: ? parenting, setting rules and regulations, rewards other qualities, give the most important one ? Write these key words on the margin of the question paper and when writing later, your eyes should always swap on these words so as to remind yourself you must include these points and not to side track, otherwise you will lose marks. ?
