Framework for Principal and Agent Agreements The National Protocols (2006) apply to arrangements where aspects of a higher education institution’s operations are carried out by other entities, such as through partnerships with other institutions, providers or business entities, the formation of companies, sub-contracting of services, or franchising. Whenever students are enrolled in an Australian higher education institution or awards are conferred in the name of an Australian higher education institution, the registered Australian higher education institution is responsible for oversight of the arrangement and for ensuring the arrangement complies with the National Protocols. Principal and Agent Agreements should include the following information: Preamble description of the nature of the relationship by and between the principal and agent, including a general description of the respective responsibilities of the principal and the agent witnessed and dated signatures of the responsible company officer of the principal and the agent the duration of the Agreement.
