You will learn the historical experiences, theoretical explanations and solutions devised concerning todays urban problems. The ability to critically assess current and future urban policies in comparative perspective is essential in our increasingly interdependent, global urban 课程基本内容简介： The central issues examined in this course are: classic and contemporary urban theories; growth and function of cities and macro systems of cities; human and spatial ecology; urban lifestyles, work, sub-cultures, minorities and communities; poverty, politics and urban renewal; solutions for cities social and economic crises; planning and future cities; emphasis on international comparisons, especially Third World experiences. 基本要求： Our learning methods in this course involve a flexible combination of lectures and discussions, participation in a panel presentation, group discussion activities.
