Abstract , AIM To evaluate the eff ects of chronic alcohol abuse on the m ucosal per , meability to lipopolysacchari e in the colon of rats. METHODS Escherichia coli lipopolysacchari e ( LPS, 20 g/ ml) w as in jecte into the colon of chronic alcoholic rats (n = 10) which were supplie . with Lieber iets every other ay for 6 weeks.
