Department of Agronomy and Plant Breeding, Aboureyhan Campus, University of Tehran, Iran Corresponding author email: kamal.asilan@ ABSTRACT: The objectives of this survey were to determine the effect of temperature on germination and seedling growth of of Psyllium (Plantago psyllium), Marshmallow (Althaea officinalis) and Fennel flower (Nigella sativa) regarding germination behavior and seedling growth characteristics. Temperatures considered for this study were: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 ºC. Results indicated that temperature affected germination percentage and germination rate of these medicinal plants. All aspects of seedling growth also affected by different temperatures. Optimum thermal range for germination of psyllium was higher thatn two other plants. The optimum temperatures for germination of psyllium were from 10 to 30 ºC, for marshmallow, from 10 to 30, for Fennel flower from 10 to 25 ºC. In general, as it is expected, germination response of these medicinal plants to temperature was correlated with the nature of growth of these plants. At higher temperatures, psyllium as high temperature tolerant plant showed a higher germination per
