Knowledge aim 1) Help students get some information about the types of grammatical mistakes and learn how to correct them. 2) Help students find and master some important expressions connected with this topic. 3) Help students understand the criterion of essay evaluation and help them master the way of using it. 2. Ability aim 1) Enable the students to improve an essay by correcting its grammatical mistakes and varying its expressions. 2) Enable the students to evaluate an essay according to the criterion. 3. Emotional aim Help the students establish a correct attitude towards health and life. Important and difficult points 1. Help the Ss master the standard of a good essay and help them revise as well as grade an essay. 2. Time management 3. Students’ participation Teaching procedures Step 1 presentation Using some pictures to present the composition and lead in to the grammatical mistakes. Purpose: Arouse the students’ interest and introduce the composition with some interesting pictures. Step 2 Correct grammatical mistakes 1. Present some sentences from the students’ essays with some grammatical mistakes and guide the students to correct them. 2. Summarize the mistakes and correct more sentences to consolidate. Purposes: 1. The most common problems in this essay are grammatical mistakes. 2. Comparatively low level students will make more grammatical mistakes. (From easy task to difficult ones) Step 3 language sequences 1. Students compare two essays (a good one and an essay with fewer good expressions) and try to find the good expressions. 2.
