* There is even a special psychology of bargain hunting. To save money, of course, most people look for sales, low prices, and discounts. Compulsive bargain hunters, however, often buy things that they dont need just because they are cheap. They want to believe that they are helping their budgets, but they are really playing an exciting game: when they can buy something for less than other people, they feel that they are winning. Most people, experts claim, have two reasons for their behavior: a good reason for the things that they do and the real reason. It is not only scientists, of course, who understand the psychology of spending habits, but also business people. Stores, companies, and advertisers use psychology to increase business: they consider peoples needs for love, power, or influence, their basic values, their beliefs and opinions, and so on in their advertising and sales methods. compulsive adj. (of someone) having a uncontrollable strong desire to do something; (of behavior) very difficult to stop or control 不能自拔的;难以抑制的 e.g. Ⅰ) He was a compulsive gambler and often heavily in debt. Ⅱ) She is suffering from a compulsive eating disorder. n. compulsiveness, compulsivity, compulsion adv. compulsively 同:[a.] determined, driven compulsion n. a strong and unreasonable desire that one cannot resist 欲望,冲动 e.g. Ⅰ) She felt a sudden compulsion to drop the bucket and run. Ⅱ) Its a compulsion to write, more than talent, that makes a writer. Most boys like playing football. I always spend most time learning English. I spent most of my time learning to play the piano last year. I did most of that
