Doubly-fed wind power generator takes the largest share of wind energy. However, as the most important part, the speed-up gearbox is easy to be damaged. The existing researches about gearbox faults are mainly about gear fault, the study of bearing fault is relatively less compared with gear fault, expecially for the bearing fault of planet gear. This article presents a typical case of bearing fault about planet gear, which contains the cause of vibration behaviour and the analysis of fault.IntroductionAt present, 1.5MW and 2MW wind turbines are the mainstrean in wind power market. Doubly-fed wind turbine and direct drive wind turbine are the two different types. As the more popular one, doubly-fed wind turbine has mastered more than 80% of the share. Compared to direct-drive wind turbine, doubly-fed wind turbine not only has a different generator, but also adds a speed-up gearbox. Because of the difficulities in reparing wind turbine, the design life of speed-up gearbox is about 20 years. However, due to the terrible operating environment of wind turbines, the gearbox is prone to fail after the wind turbine has put into operation for few years. For example, the irregularly changed wind and the wide variations in temperature cause the stall of wind turbine and the loss of huge economic.The existing researches on gearbox of wind turbine are mainly about gear fault.
