The captain George Vancouver noticed a small inlet that bore no promise of a great river. * Vancouver Here,although ships from Spain,Russia,and Britain had first poked along the shores in the 1770s,no one actually set foot on land,leaving the native population as sole tenants of the remote forests for a little while longer. Some trade vessels ,mostly American,followed the first ,but it wasn’t until the 1860s that white pioneers appeared. Later on,an American entrepreneur saw the future here,said that seattled and Vancouver are destined to be vast centures. And then,many agreeable bric shopping centure,view of the settings and sffices have been restored. Amazing beauties. The large,tree-covered peninsula across the water is Stanley Park,a thousand-acre sea of green for which the original city leaders made provision just about a day after Vancouver got its name. Granville Island began life as nothing but barren sand,where nearby waters sffered rich fishing for the local Indians. *
