There have been many questions about how to handle a folder that has plans in it that someone else has written. The following is the recommendation: Reviewing Existing Plans Start with the needs assessment Does the needs assessment match the area of need identified. Reviewing Progress Monitoring Data If major adjustments are needed: Complete the Periodic Evaluation. Summarize the student’s progress based off the current data. Check modify plan. Write a rationale. Examples To meet the student’s needs a new intervention plan needs to be written for the current grade. Based upon the updated data, there is a different learning need that is of priority. If needed complete a new needs assessment. Write up the new intervention plan. * * Determine if additional data is needed complete a new needs assessment and adjust plan Review the progress monitoring data. If No If Yes Determine if additional data is needed adjust interventions Continue interventions as written to the extent possible, making sure the intensity remains the same.
