Abstract The current research tackles the main activities performed by the teacher in his/her capacity of an information provider, from a modern approach, and highlights those types of activities highly as well as less. The target group consisted of 80 first year engineering students, studying at UPT. A 28 dichotomic item questionnaire was devised (such as self-development/student development activities), including the main activities related to the didactic role of information provider.
