On the Oral English Teaching in Primary School Abstract: At present, there is a “ dumb English ” phenomenon existing in the oral English teaching of primary school. Generally speaking, most students’ ability to express themselves is very low. That is to say, they can’t use English to express their own ideas exactly. However, there are various reasons for this phenomenon. For example, the importance of oral English study hasn’t been universally recognized as well as short of good language environment, the different mental equalities, the various personal characters and the large enrollment of the students, etc. Then, how can we improve the students’ oral English abilities? First of all, we should stir up their strong interests of learning English. Among them include the establishment of good language environment, the organization of diverse activities in class ( such as daily report, free talk, role-play, group disscussion and story telling ) as well as the magical effect of games. Second, we should encourage and guide the students’ oral English practices actively. Third, it is better to teach according to their different abilities. At last, we can carry on extracurricular activities of extensive contents and varied forms. As long as we insist on unremittingly, our oral English teaching will certainly reach a new step!
