In many tasks with pneumatic cylinders, detection of the positions of individual pistons is no longer enough. Continuous feedback is increasingly required, which makes it possible to handle complex automation tasks. ? Versions are available with measuring ranges from 32 mm to 256 mm, making this solution flexible for the user by covering numerous stroke lengths. ? Quick drop-in installation for the T-slot with no additional adapter required Principle of operation The MPS determines the position of an magnet via a line of hall sensors. The sensor elements are mounted on a circuit board in a fixed grid. The circuit board is modular and can be easily extended. In this way, 8 different devices with measuring ranges of 32 mm to 256 mm can be set up. The sensor grows in 32 mm steps and adapts to the respective application. A powerful microprocessor calculates the correct position from the signals of the individual hall sensors. Position is determined in two steps: 1. The elements in the immediate vicinity of the magnet are activated. 2. An intelligent algorithm is used to calculate the current position. The advantage of this method is that power consumption is not dependent on the length and external magnetic fields are suppressed. An intelligent algorithm has been implemented in the micropro- cessor. This linearizes the hall voltages and is able to adjust to very different magnets. For ex
