Use the relative pronouns: that, which, who, whom and whose correctly. Learning Procedures: Step I Lead-in Show pictures to the students and ask the question ‘Which team won the match?’. 1) The red team (adjective) 2) The team in red (prepositional phrase) 3) The team who are wearing red (attributive clause) Step II Introduction 1. An attributive clause modifies a noun in the same way that an adjective or prepositional phrase does. The noun it modifies is called an antecedent(先行词). eg. The team who are wearing red Relatives(关系词) The attributive clauses are usually introduced by relatives(关系词) like which, that, who, whom,as and whose, or relative adverbs like where, why and when. eg. The team who are wearing red Functions(功能) In the attributive clauses the relative words usually function as the: eg. The team who are wearing red As subject(作主语) 1) The boy is Tom. The boy is smiling. The boy _______________ is Tom. 2) The boy is Tom. The boy has a round face. The boy ______________________ is Tom. 3) The boy is Tom. He sits in front of me. The man is Tom. 4) The woman got the job. The woman can speak Russian. The woman got the job. 5) The teacher will give us a talk. The teacher is famous. The teacher will give us a talk.
