While the building’s operable floors will reach up to 580 meters, the buildings total height will be 632 meters. Shanghai Towers construction area is 576,000 square meters in all, 380,000 square meters of which are above-ground. Additionally, about 33 percent of the site will be reserved for public green space. After its completion, the Shanghai Tower will be part of a harmonious skyscraper community, side by side with the Jinmao Tower and the World Financial Center. Formed on December 5, 2007, the Shanghai Tower Construction Development Co., Ltd., represents an equity partnership between the Shanghai Chengtou Corp., the Luijiazui Finance Trade Zone Development Co., Ltd., and the Shanghai Construction Group. These three shareholders are jointly funding the development and construction of Shanghai Tower with registered capital of RMB 5.4 billion. Together the trio will redefine the Lujiazui area skyline and provide it with a new look, which will in turn demonstrate the results of Pudong New Areas Reform and Opening Up. Driven to pursue the “highest, noblest and most exquisite” design and development objectives for Shanghai Tower, the corporation is leveraging more than 10 years of construction management and market expertise to deliver a landmark building worthy of Shanghai’s place on the world stage. Shanghai Tower began pile and foundation construction on November 29, 2008; the project’s below-grade facilities will be completed in 2010.
