Background.Cell-phoneusagehasincreaseddramaticallyoverthelastdecade,alongwitharisingpublicconcernoverthehealth e?ectsofusingthisdevice.Theassociationbetweencell-phoneusageandhypertensionhasnotbeenexaminedbefore.Methods. Weanalyseddatafrom21,135adultsaged≥18yearswhoparticipatedinthe2008NationalHealthInterviewSurvey.Basedon reportedcell-phoneuse,participantswerecategorizedascell-phonenonusers,predominantlylandlineusers,dualusersofcell phoneandlandline,andpredominantlycell-phoneusers.Themainoutcomeofinterestwasself-reportedphysician-diagnosed hypertension(n = 6,793).Results.43.5%oftheparticipantswerecell-phonenonusers,while13.8%werepredominantlycell- phoneusers.Wefoundthatcell-phoneusewasinverselyassociatedwithhypertension,independentofage,sex,race/ethnicity, smoking,alcoholconsumption,education,bodymassindex(BMI),andphysicalactivity.Comparedtocell-phonenonusers,the multiva
