Wepresentacomparisonofcerebralblood?owchanges(ΔCBF)measuredusinga?ow-sensitivealternatinginversionrecovery (FAIR)ASLperfusionmethodtothoseobtainedusingH2 OPET,whichisthecurrentgoldstandardforinvivoimagingofCBF. 15 TostudyregionalandglobalCBFchanges,agroupof10healthyvolunteerswereimagedunderidenticalexperimentalconditions duringpresentationof5levelsofvisualstimulationandonelevelofhypercapnia.TheCBFchangeswerecomparedusing3types ofregion-of-interest(ROI)masks.FAIRmeasurementsofCBFchangeswerefoundtobeslightlylowerthanthosemeasuredwith PET(averageΔCBFof21.5± 8.2%forFAIRversus28.2± 12.8%forPETatmaximumstimulationintensity).Nonetheless,there wasastrongcorrelationbetweenmeasurementsofthetwomodalities.Finally,at-testcomparisonoftheslopesofthelinear?tsof PETversusASLΔCBFforall3ROItypesindicatednosigni?cantdi?erencefromunity(P.05).
