Methods Accordingto the requirements of Water Quality onitoring Pro- gram of Rural Water Security Project issued by the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee Office, we investigated 1,099 rural centralizedwater- supply projectswhichcoveredapopulationof 1,618, 136 peopleinShaanxi Province, andthen testedandevaluatedthewater qualityinwet anddry seasons basedon Standards of DrinkingWater Sanitation. Results Groundwater as awatersourceaccountedfor 73.70% of the investigatedprojects, andsurface- water as awater sourceac- counted for 26. 30%. The qualified rate of theinvestigatedprojectswas21.93%, andthequalified rateof covering- popula- tionof the projects was 23.08%. The water- quality tests showed that there were statistically significant differences inthe qualified ratesbetweendry andwet seasons, betweensurfaceand undergroundwater samples, andamongthedifferent trea-t ment methods.
