Effect of Right Ventricular Septum and Apex Pacing on Left Atrial Systolic Function, Synchronization and Plasma Brain Natriuretic Peptide in Patients with Atrioventricular Block Major: Cardiology Candidate: Chen yaning Supervisor: Professor Wu Qiang [Abstract] Objective: To compare the effects of right ventricular septum pacing (RVS) and right ventricular apex pacing (RVA) on left atrial systolic function and synchronization by real time three dimensional echocardiography （RT-3DE ）and plasma brain natriuretic peptide(BNP).And further to observe if there is any correlation between BNP and LATEF. Methods: 51 subjects who were implanted permanent pacemakers were divided into two groups ：RVS group(n=31) and RVA group(n=20) ．In the first month, 3rd month, 6th month and 12th month after pacemaker implantation,the time to measured the plasma BNP levels and to use Philips IE33 with X3-1 probe to perform full volume RT-3DE were obtained by the on-line Qlab software.Meanwhile to get the Tmsv16-SD and Tmsv16-Dif .The volume parameters were acquired as followed:the maximum volume of left atrial(LAVmax ） ，minimum volume of left atrial(LAVmin) and volume before contraction of left atria(LAVprep).Accordingly, the total ejection function of left atrial(LATEF) and the active ejection function of left atrial(LAAEF) were calculated.Results After 6 month LATEF and LAAEF of RVS group were significantly higher than that of RVA group(P0 ．05) ．After 3 month Tmsv16-SD of two groups were significantly higher tha
