Then Dad came in carrying the mattress from my bed. Mum pushed us down so we were almost lying in the bath and Dad threw the mattress over the top of us. It suddenly became much quieter. Mum shouted “Everything’s going to be OK, it’s just a bad storm. It’ll soon be over and you’ll be safe in the bath.” She pushed some blankets into the bath and covered us again with the mattress.
