DRAFT RESOLUTION Committee: The Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Topic: Establishing Treaty Allegiance against Maritime Piracy Sponsor: Italy, China, Iran, Indonesia, Somalia Signatories: Austria, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Central African Republic, Iran, Namibia, Norway, South Korea, Somali, Thailand, United Arab emirates, Uruguay The Committee on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, Recalling its solutions Part I of the Convention on the International Maritime Organization in particular Article 1(a) thereof and the Convention, in particular Articles 2(a) thereof, Recalling also General Assembly resolution 66/81 of 19 December 2011, entitled Strengthening the United Nations crime prevention and criminal justice programme, in particular its technical cooperation capacity, in which the Assembly reaffirmed the importance of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and the Protocols thereto as the main tools of the international community to fight transnational organized crime, drew attention to emerging policy issues of piracy, Recognizing further the functions and powers of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice on matters pertaining to the maintenance of international peace and security as contained in the Charter, Recalling in particular the directions given, as its twenty-second session, to the Council to prepare the Organizations strategic plan outlining the Organizations broad direction and strategic objectives; and the adoption, as its twenty-sixth session, of resolution A.1011(26) on Strategic Plan for the Organization(for the six-year period 2012 to 2015), including the direction given to the Council therein to review the Plan every biennium, Request the Council and the Security-General, as appropriate, to monitor progress and analysis, as necessary, any mechanisms required to review and update progress made under the Plan, taking into account the High-Level Action Plan developed by the the Organi
