China’s Foreign Trade and Its Entry into the WTO The background of WTO The World Trade Organization came into being in 1995,one of the youngest of the international organizations. The WTO is the successor to General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade established in the wake of the Second World War. so while the WTO is still young, the multilateral trading system that was originally set up under GATT is already 50 years old. The WTO has three major objectives: 1.To promote free trade by encouraging members to adopt nondiscriminatory, Predictable trade polices; 2.To further reduce trade barriers through multilateral negotiations; 3. To establish more effective trade dispute settlement procedures. China entered the World Trade Organization(WTO)in2001.During the past decade, China has quickened its integration into the global economy while its foreign trade has been further invigorated.
