runoff in Beij ing urban area

Abstract It is a critical basis for utilization of rainfall resource an pollution control of runoff in urban
area to un erstan runoff quality an its main influential factors.On the basis of large quality ata selecte
from rainfall events uring 1998—2000 in Beijing , this article analyzes the quality of runoff from roofs an
roa s, an major factors w hich affect the quality.
The quality of the runoff is very poor, the polluting strength of the first flash of the runoff is higher that
of raw sew age.In a ition to air quality, the most important influential factors are roof material, roa type
an its pollution con ition, air temperature, rainfall intensity an volume, an interval of rainfall events etc.
Some necessary management measurements for utilization an pollution control of the urban runoff in Beijing
are iscusse .
