核心考点突破 考点1几类特殊用法的形容词1.通常只用作表语的形容词有 afraid,alike,alive,alone,asleep,awake,ashamed, afloat,aware 等，它们常以a-开头。这些形容词通常不直接用very修饰，通常习惯说法有 very much alone,wide awake,sound/fast asleep。 但是afraid,alive,alone,awake 可用作后置定语，如a man afraid“害怕的人”，the greatest man alive，the only child awake。当以a-开头的形容词本身带有副词修饰时，可以用作前置定语，如 a fast asleep boy；the wide awake soldiers。 2.通常不可用作定语的形容词有 unable,content,well“身体好的”，ill“生病的”。(ill 作定语时，通常是“坏的，邪恶的”意思；表示健康的，习惯上还是用sick,healthy等作前置定语。) 只能作定语的常用形容词有 inner，outer，former,latter，utter，upper，real，mere，live\，only，aged等。 3.通常不用“人”作主语的形容词有 possible,improbable,convenient,inconvenient等
