Lesson 10: Plant Parts
General objectives
This unit takes place during spring, when plants begin to sprout and grow. In keeping with the season, this unit presents stories, facts and an engaging hands-on project about plants. It reviews words for plants that the students learned before. It extends students’ vocabulary to include new concepts about plants and gardening, and new phrases for sharing resources.
Teaching objectives
Master words and expressions: flower, leaf, stem, root
Learn about plant parts and what they use for.
Develop four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) of the students.
Do protect in our environment.

Step1: lead in (8 minutes)
Bring a real plant to class. Ask the following questions:
What is it? It is a leaf\stem\root.
What are they? They are flowers.
Now we can understand that a plant has four main parts.
Step2: let‘s do it! (4minutes)
Give the students a chart to complete them, by the way check what the students have learned.
Step3: Practice (4minutes)
Today we have learned plant parts. Every day we eat many plants, such as: vegetables, rice and so on. But we eat different parts of these plants. For example, a carrot is a root; we eat the leaves of cabbage. Can you guess what parts we eat?
Step4: Group work (8 minutes)
Let the students read the text and find the answers to these questions in students’ books.
