Dubai is a one of the seven emirate(酋长国) of the United Arab Emirates,It is located south of the Persian Gulf and has the largest population with the second-lagest land territory of all the emirates.Dubai was formally established in the early 19th century and its oil resouces was discovered in the year 1966. * Dubai lies directly in the Arabian Desert. Although Dubai's economy was built on the back of the oil industry,revenuesfrom oil and natural gas currently account for less than 6% of the emirate's GDP. Dubai's oil reserves have diminished significantly and are expected to be exhausted in 20 years.Real estate and construction(22.6%),trade(16%),tourism(15%) and financial services(11%) are the largest contributors to Dubai's economy. 1990 2003 2007 The Burj Al Arab(帆船酒店) is a luxury hotel located in Dubai.At 321 m,it is the second tallest hotel in the world.It took 5 years to finish the building when it was achieved in 1999.There are 26 t gold in the hotel,even the toilets are resplendent and magnificent.In a word,the hotel is very very luxurious.The Burj Al Arab stands on artificial island 280 m out from the beach,and is connected to the mainland by a private bridge. It is always known as the first "7-star Hotel"of the world. Prices of rooms vary from about $1000 to $27000 per night. The Palm Island(棕榈岛) is a artificial island in Dubai,on which there are lots of commercial and residential structures such as entertainment centers,hotels and villas.It is called"the eighth wondert of the world". Dubai has a very hot arid climate.Dubai's only has two seasons-summer(4-10) and winter(11-3).In the summer,the temperature can be above 45 degree,while in the winter it is above 7 degree.However,in such a city in the desert,there is one of the biggest indoor ski herd in the world. The biggest shopping center in the world-Dubai Mall.There are more than 1200 stores,160 restaurants and other places of entertainment.It
