The Evaluation of the English Mid-term Test Paper for Students of Grade2 I. The Analysis of the Whole Paper According to the title “2011-2012年度第一学期期中试题 初二英语”，we know it is the achievement test.It test whether students have mastered the knowledge for half a term. I analyze the test in terms of validity. Validity is the most important quality of test interpretation or use. Validity refers to the appropriateness of a given test or any of its component parts as a measure of what it is purported to measure. This paper is valid because it measures accurately what it is intended to measure. In terms of face validity, the paper lacks of listening part. It only tests students’ reading and writing ability. But it ignores the listening ability which is very important. In terms of reading part, I think five texts are a little bit much,four texts are much proper. And the difficulty of the paper is moderate. II. The Analysis of the Paper’s Proportion The paper has five parts. III. Analysis of Each Part 1.The first part is multiple choice. It has 30 items altogether. The content is comprehensive. It almost includes all the key knowledge points. The difficulty of the test is moderate. But it has some problems. First,the instruction is not clear enough. It doesn’t point out where the right answer should be written down, in the parentheses or on the line? If students write the correct answer on the line, it will be a little difficult for teachers to check the answers. For proper instruction can be as follows:“单项选择，请将正确选项填在题前括号内”.
