2008 No.23( Total 23) Periodical Abstract Jul 23, 2008 Meclift Launches Container Mover Finland-based Oy Meclift Ltd has further widened its range of container handling equipment with the introduction of a low cost container mover, designated ML35CM. As with other mover designs, it is used with a terminal tractor that provides the system’s power supply. It can handle empty and loaded 20ft, 30ft, 40ft and 45ft units. The ML35CM has s sturdy frame with two rear wheels. The telescopic main beam enables adjustability for different lengths of containers. The beam stops automatically at the desired length. The front and rear cross beams can be adjusted 200mm sideways to match the width of the container. The whole system can be raised and lowered hydraulically for passing over and locking the container and there is sufficient height to position the container on a strailer. When grounding the container the twistlocks open automatically as soon as the container is pressed against the twistlock sensors. The main functions are performed hydraulically. The tractor’s hydraulic pump is used for oil supply of the hydraulic system and the hydraulics are electrically controlled from terminal tractor’s control panel. The ML35CM is equipped with electrically-operated central lubrication system and service-friendliness is enhanced by steplessly adjustable, self-lubricating wear resistant slid pads in telescopic beams. All slide pads can be changed without dismantling the frame structure, says Meclift. The ML35CM has an SWL of 35t and tare weight of 16t. Its length is adjustable between 9.8 and 15.3m and height between 3.9 and 5.35 metres, respectively. Total width is 4.2m and it is fitted with 18.00-25(40PR) tyres. The first machine has been supplied to Steveco.
