Comparative Study on Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean loanwords Name: Yang Yang Abstract: Language is the carrier of culture, loanwords refers to the acceptance of new words from other languages. The loanwords borrowing methods and the acceptance are the reflection of cultural  communication in language. In recent years,  Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean loanwords have absorbed a large number of loanwords, they have the same points and different points, comparative study on Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean loanwords, we can see that the cultural differences between countries. Japanese etymology: Portuguese(葡萄牙语), Spanish, Dutch(荷兰语), French, German, Italian, Latin, English and so on. Korean etymology: Chinese, French, Italian, German, Greek, and so on. Borrowing Methods of Loanwords For Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean the ways are the literal translation(直译);transliteration(音译); translation(意译);assimilation(同化). There are also some differences, such as Chinese always uses translation (意译) , but English, Japanese, Korean always use transliteration(音译) . Chinese loanwords:鸡尾酒(cocktail)E,咖啡(coffee)E; 民主J,思想J English loanwords: gentle(F); Kung Fu (功夫)C; chew mien(炒面)C Japanese loanwords:ギョーザ(饺子)C;カメラ(camera)E; キムチ(泡菜)K Korean loanwords:바나나 (banana)E;사상(思想)J The Use of Loanwords Chinese loanwords usage Mostly come from English. Compared with the traditional Chinese system, the role of loanwords can only be the icing on the cake(锦上添花),  the influence is limited . Generally
