II. Teaching contents 1. New words and phrases: advantage, increase, development, agriculture, hunger, contribution, production, work as, happen to, die of, be introduced into, at present 2. New structures: I think Yuan Longping is one of the greatest people that have ever lived. In 1960, he saw people die of hunger, so he began research into hybrid rice. Because of his achievements, rice production has been increased by 20%—30%. That is why I admire him so much. III. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty 1. Teaching procedures Step 1 Lead-in T: In this unit, we have learnt about many great people. Tell me who they are according to the descriptions. T: We call him “Father of Hybrid Rice”.
