Venture Crew 261 Trip Planner Michael Johnson/Program Advisor 9/1/08 Trip/Activity: October 2008 Deer Hunt ( Doe Hunt only) Dates: Oct 17 – 19th 2008 Reservations: Texas Park and Wildlife Division (TPWD) Youth Hunting Program Hunt #401 is reserved for Crew261 directly with the Huntmaster, Jose O. Garcia, cell 214-293-6443; jogarcia44@) Maximum participants for this trip are 7 Crew Scout/Dad pairs. The Texas Youth Hunting Program was established to increase the number of youths participating in wildlife and hunting activities and to promote the hunting heritage in Texas. Estimated Trip Costs: $150 per Scout/Dad pair ($75 per person) Each Scout/Dad Pair owes $150 to Scout Account by Monday September 15th 2008. Cost Estimate Breakdown: $110 per Scout/Dad pair ($75/$35) for TPWD, to be paid to TPWD by C261 debit card (TPWD contact is Tina, 800-839-4933 at TPWD in San Antonio, refer to Youth Hunt #401 with Hunt Master Jose Garcia) $20 per person/estimated Gas share (@300 miles RT/ 4 people per vehicle Requirements for Scouts to participate in C261 Deer Hunt: Each Scout (Youth) will need to have completed the Hunter Education Course and be able to provide a copy of the certificate Scout’s Dad or Guardian must accompany him on this trip Valid Texas Youth Hunting License ( 17 y.o., Type 169, $6). Fill out an online TPWD Hunter Application. Complete the Texas Youth Hunting Program liability release form after successfully registering for a youth hunt. Visit a shooting range before the hunt and fire 10 shots on a target at 75 yards with a .243 or higher caliber hunting rifle, scope OK. Bring target with you for the Huntmaster. Steps to Register : Obtain a valid Texas Youth Hunting license. Type 169, for ages 17 or under. No Tags required. Fill out an online TPWD Hunter Application (see link below) for each Scout/Dad pair.
