Module Four Execution of Contract;Introduction Packing can be divided into transport packing( usually known as outer packing) and sales packing(usually known as inner packing). The former must be strong to protect the packed goods. And it must also be as light and compact as possible to keep freight cost low. The latter is done mainly to push sales. Still, there is another category of packing, called “neutral packing”. Neutral packing is frequently used in international trade to promote export sales. Neutral packing carries no labels at all,either on the outer packing or inner packing that indicate the country of origin, the manufacturer or the name of the commodity itself. .;Packing must be strikingly marked. Conventionally, outer packing marks mainly include transport marks, directive marks and warning marks. ;1.1.1 Packing Containers: Bag: May be made of strong paper, linen, canvas, rubber, etc. A large bag is usually made of jute. Carton: Made of light but strong cardboard, or fiberboard with double lids and bottoms, fixed by glue, adhesive taps, metal bands or wire staples. Case: A strong container made of wood. For extra strength it may have "battens". Sometimes thinner wood may be used with metal bands or wires passed around the case. ; Box: A small case, which may be made of wood, cardboard or metal, and may have a folding lid. Drum: A cylinder-shape container for carrying liquids, chemicals, paint, etc. It is usually made of metal. Certain dry chemicals or powders are sometimes packed in wood or cardboard drum. Can or Tin: A small metal container in which are small quantities of paint, oil, etc. Carboy: A larger glass container protected in a metal or wicker cage with soft packing between glass and cage.
