Burns are called first (degree burns),second (degree burns) or third degree burns. 3.Examples include mild sunburn and burns (which are) caused by touching a hot pan, stove or iron for a moment. 4.These burns are serious and (these burns) take a few weeks to heal. 5.Remove clothing using scissors if (it is) necessary unless it is stuck to the burn. 6.If burns are on arms or legs ,keep them higher than the heart ,if (it is) possible. 为了使讲话和行文简洁,句中某些成分可以省略。省略可分为以下情况: (一)简单句中的省略 1、省略主语:祈使句中主语通常省略。 (括号内为省略的词语,下同) e.g. (I) Thank you for your help. (You) Come in, please. 练习: (I) See you tomorrow. 2、省略主谓语或主谓语的一部分。 e.g. (Is there) Anything wrong? (Do you have) any question? 练习: (Would you like) Something to drink? 3、不定式的省略 1)省略不定式后的内容,只使用不定式符号to。 (1)动词:want, wish, expect, hope, like, love, try, forget, decide, prefer, mean, intend, plan, refuse等,以及短语:be going to, be about to, be able to, have to, used to, ought to e.g. ---- Do you plan to go there? ---- Yes, I plan to (go there). —I didn’t go to see the doctor yesterday.---But you ought to (see the doctor). 练习:— Does she want to take the place of you? — Yes, she wants to(想要). 注意:如果不定式含有be, have done, have been, 通常保留be, have, have been。 e.g. ---- Are you an engineer? ---- No, but I want to be. 练习:--- He hasn’t finished the task yet. ---- Well, he ought to have(本应该完成)。 (2)在某些形容词glad, happy, delighted, pleased等后, 如: — Will you join us? — I’d be glad to. I’ll be away on a business. Would you mind looking after my cat? 练习: Not at all. ______________ (我会高兴照看你的猫的). I’d be happy to (3) 否定的不定式省略常用not to. — Shall I go with him? — He told you not to. 练习:The boy wanted to ride his bike to school, but his mother told him ______ (不要骑车去学校). not to 2)不定式to的省略 (1) 某些使役动词(如let, make, have)及感官动词
