如何通过有效教学方法提高学生阅读能力   How to Improve the Students’ Reading through Useful Teaching Methods   Chen Shuming   【Abstract】Language is the most important vehicle of human thought and communication. Of course, the most important function of language is communication. And the forms of communication are oral form, written form and some others. Though oral form is much more important than the others according to the developing history of language and the rule of learning language, I think we shouldn’t ignore written form. Nowadays, A lot of people all over the country, even child can speak English well, but there aren’t many people who can be good at reading China Daily, especially English articles about science. What’s more, most students are all afraid of reading comprehension. They always lose plenty of marks in the exam. So we have to pay more attention to reading. Based on this. I designed this reading project. It presents a detailed report implemented to solve the problem that some of my students don’t like reading or they do badly in reading. It is hypothesized that learner’s interest in reading is increased by better-designed reading activities. This hypothesis is verified by four-week classroom teaching of the newly designed reading practices.   【Key words】Methods; Skills; Strategies; Ability of reading and implementation      1 Introduction      The learners as many of the junior middle school students find it difficult to read in English. Their ability of reading is poor. They don’t understand the meanings of the article. They can’t do the written exercises such as filling in the blanks with the correct form of the given words, or they can’t choose the correct answers or they can’t answer the questions correctly. For the powerful influence of some traditional methods, they try to translate them word-by-word, by reading it mechanically again and again. Then they translate them sentence-by-sentence and paragraph-by paragraph into Chinese. They aren’t interes
