Abstract In this article, a kind of thioureido lauric acid imidazoline used for CO2-saturat ed neutral NaCl solution was synthesized with lauric acid, tetraethyllene penamine, a nd thiourea. Its structure was characterized by IR spectrum. The corrosion inhibition was evaluated by various experimental techniques inclu ding weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization, galvanic couple, electrochemical hydr ogen permeation measurement. The results showed that imidazoline is a good inhibit or for inhibiting corrosion rate, galvanic current, pitting trend and hydrogen permeati on even at a low concentration. The influence of concentration and temperature on the corrosion inhibition of a mide and imidazoline was investigated. The results showed that the corrosion inhibit ion of imidazoline was obviously better than amide even at a low concentration or HYPERLINK /dict_result.aspx?searchword=%e9%ab%98%e6%b8%a9amp;tjType=sentenceamp;styleamp;t=high%2Btemperature high temperature. And for the inhibition action of amide, a critical concentration wa s observed. The values of parameters of polarization curves were studied to analysed the thermodynamics and dynamics.
