AbstractOwing Abstract Owing to different site environment，geohydrologic condition and humane elements，different type of water bank protection in different region should naturally manifest different individuality and regional character．Facing the trend of emphasi— zing technicality and modality in construction nowadays，the implementation of the idea becomes perplexing．The author expects this article could be helpful for current landscape construction of water bank protection． The article comprises five chapters．First chapter has summarized the shore water contact surface conceptand the waterfront construction takes in the shore water landscape the essential landscape element，and its center vital role in city water scenery．Second chapter proposed the waterfront construction design idea，the guiding ideology，the principle of design as well as the design core content，and has analyzed the waterfront construction in the shore place center constitution pattern． Third chapter has details design about engineering design，landscape design， hydrotropism design，humanization design．Forth chapters analyses different waterf- ront than is used in different condition．Fifth chapter as the city of Nanjing，we should consider about the future of water front design，and give some advice． This article is based on the theory of landscape design，and draws lessons from the basic theories of the humanities，such as planning，building，environmental psychology human engineering，ecological ethics，etc．，and makes a exhaustive and systematic study on waterfront construction and it’S law of changing in the urban waterside area。At the same time，combining some typical cases，we discuss relevant current situation of project and building experience at present in our country，we also compare that with foreign successful case．Finally，we put forward the theory and method system to build and construct environment conscientiously which is accord with human’S demand of psychology arid emotion，and expect to really
