Teaching aims:
Students learn to talk about the future by using will + do/ be;
Students learn to use “more”, “less” and “fewer” to modify nouns;
Students get the idea that the future is in our their hands. Everyone should work hard for it!
Language points: = 1 \* GB3 \* MERGEFORMAT ① will (not) + verb.;
= 2 \* GB3 \* MERGEFORMAT ② more/ less/ fewer + noun;
= 3 \* GB3 \* MERGEFORMAT ③ talking about environment.
Target Students: Students in Junior Two
Teaching Methods: audio visual approach, task-based approach
Teaching Aids: a micro-media computer
Teaching Process:
ACTIVATE
Step 1. Greetings.
Step 2. Introduce the topic.
Show the picture of Doraemon, the cat-like robot from the future. He has a time machine and knows a lot about the future.
How do people know the future?
BULID
Step 3. Discover Language.
A. The woman in the video knows something about the future with the help of a crystal ball. Watch the video and complete the sentences.
If you eat a lot, you ________________.
If you stop smoking, you ________________.
You ________________ to a far place.
You ________________ a woman and you ________________ her.
If you dont give me any money, you ________________.
B. Read the answers and try to find out the rules. Which word/ sentence structure do we use when we make predictions about the future?
will
sb./ sth. + will + do/ be ...
sb./ sth. + will not(= wont) + do/ be
Step 4. Make predictions.
What will the life be like in the future? Look at the pictures and describe the life. Use “will”.
Step 5. About Robots.
Watch the video and list the things that robots can do. The video can be played twice.
CULTIVATE
Step 6. Look at the main picture on the textbook. Answer the questions:
Where are the two boys?
What are they talking about?
Whats happening in the two small pictures?
Do you agree with him?
Step 7. Read the predictions in 1a. Do you agree?
