It has become a realty that people who want to access to broadband networks at anywhere and anytime. LED has many advantages, hailed as the next generation of energy saving and environmentally friendly lighting products. Meanwhile, LED as the semiconductor lighting source also has a high modulation bandwidth and responsivity, so it can be modulated at a high speed data rate. Indoor visible light communication (VLC) system is designed based on the high-power white LED. The system can not only meet the needs of indoor lighting, but also can be used as the communication transmitter which supports a new method for broadband wireless optical access. When combined with power line communications (PLC), this enables a home backbone that meets the project’s “without new wires” vision. The detailed studies of the paper are from the following three aspects: The designing and modeling of visible light communication system. The block diagram is introduced and the generation of data source is described. Then the entire communication system model is built based on MATLAB. It presents the time-domain waveform diagram and gives the constellation diagram of the transmitting and receiving system. The results show that the VLC system is able to complete the modulation and demodulation in order to achieve infarmation transmission. The designing, testing of transmitting and receiving hardware circuit in visible light communication system. The hardware systems physical of layer are introduced in detail, including the circuit diagram designing, device selection, performance analysis, PCB welding and PCB testing. The test results show that the transmitting and receiving circuit can achieve the designed function.
