Abstract Ma Zuchang, an outstanding minority poet in Yuan Dynasty, also one of the few the Western Region minority writers ho have remained monographic series till now, enjoyed high reputation then and later generations and was hailed as “the only great scholar in Chung Yuan” by emperor Wenzong. His works were very popular in the court and the commonalty, functioning as transferring and localizing to the formations of Pavilion poets in Yuan Dynasty and poets’ group in Western Region. Because of the Yuan Dynasty literature academic years preconception of Yuan Dynasty, prose creation has been a negative attitude, lead to the attention of Ma ZuChang seldom.In recent years, the rise of the study on the poem with yuan for Ma ZuChang and prose creation research is achieved certain research achievements, but still relatively weak.Taking full advantage on the basis of predecessors’ research results, I have made a complete and systematic research on Ma Zuchang’s literal creation. In introduction, I give a rough summarization to the origin of selecting this topic and the value of this study, at the mean time review and do up to the history and present situations to the study of Ma Zuchang’s work. The main body of this thesis consists of six chapters. In chapter one, I briefly introduce his family’s history, life experience and his main works. In chapter two, I mainly study on his making friends activities from four aspects—his mentors and apprentices, colleagues in Pavilion, old friends in Western Region and fairy Taoist. In doing so, I go deep into the investigation on the effects to his literature innovation exerted by these four different groups. In chapter three, through the combination of his religious faith, life experience, historical background in Yuan Dynasty and the circumstance of literature world, I further study Ma Zuchang’s ideology and its impact on his work.
