电 AbstractThe Abstract The study of metaphor and metonymy can be traced back to Ancient Greek times．But traditionally,metaphor and metonymy are commonly regarded as the decoration of language or rhetorical devices employed to achieve expressive effects in literary works．Since the 1 980s，metaphor and metonymy are no longer just seen as rhetorical means；nley are also seen as ways of human thinking．George Lakoff and Mark Johnson published Metaphors We Live By in 1 980 and put forward the view of metaphor and metonymy as conceptual phenomena，which are ubiquitous in everyday language and thought and help to organize our language， thought and action．They are a11 grounded in people’S daily experience and are conceptual in nature． The world we live in is full of metaphors to which poetry is closely related．Li Bai is a famous romantic poet in the Tang Dynasty and is unparalleled in landscape poems，frontier fortress poems，farewell poems and SO on．Farewell poem is an important part of his excellent poetry． Scholars have studied his farewell poems for a long time，but mostly from the perspective of literature，focusing particularly on rhetoric and images． Only few of them have analyzed his poems from a cognitive perspective． Up to now,there are only three scholars who have done a cognitive semantic semantic study on his poems：Metonymy and Cognitive Construction in Li Bais Poems(Xiong Wumei：2006)；Conceptual Metaphor in Li Bais Poems(Liu Haibo，Duan Cheng：20 1 0)and Study on Li Bais Poetical Metaphor Based On the Relevance Theory(Luo Wei：20 1 0)． Thus，the author attempts to adopt the theories of conceptual metaphor and metonymy from the perspective of cognitive linguistics and use a qualitative study method to analyze and discuss conceptual metaphors and metonymies in Li Bai’S farewell poems．Through the analyses，the author finds that conceptual metaphors in Li Bai’S farewell poems Can be classified into life metaphors，officialdom metaphors， emotion metaphors and wine metaphors；con
