When you say someone should do something, it means that your advice is the best idea or the only idea. Grammar Focus Could, should, and shouldn’t are used to give advice. Could is a less serious word than should. Use the word could when you are not very sure of your advice. Use should when you are very sure of your advice. Advice A: My best friend is more popular than me. I want to be like him. What should I do? B: You could try to be friendlier. C: You should just be yourself. D: … Problems You left your homework at home. Your best friend is more popular than you. You are afraid of speaking in front of people. Your best friend does nor trust you any more. Your parents always argue.
