Though MODIS data contain 8 therm al bands for earth observa tion, bands 31 and 32 are especially suitable for land surface temperature retrieval requ ired by agricu ltural drought mon itoring. A fter comparing their accuracy, wt ofactor sp litw indow algorithm is selected for the retrieval.
