I.PREFACE Facing energy crisis and global warming, “The 12th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development” clearly point out that, by 2020, our society must achieve the goal that carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP drops 40%-45% than the level in 2005. Every sector including the tourism industry should undertake an important social responsibility. According to statistics, in 2010, the income of hotel business accounted for 13.5% of the total revenue of tourism industry. In the meantime, it also consumes a lot of energy and exhausts lots of carbon dioxide, making it one of the main emission and pollution sources in the city. The hotel industry plays a significant role in energy-saving by undertaking low-carbon development for the society as this industry has wide influence in the consumption field.
