Topic: discovering useful words and expressions of Unit 4 Reading I
Teaching aims:
Knowledge: enable students to use following words and expressions: violent, unlike, harmful, exist, in time, lay eggs, prevent, begin with, give birth to, in turn;
Enable students to review useful vocabulary and the classification of vocabulary
Ability: speaking and writing skills
Emotion: 1) enable students to be interested in learning vocabulary and phrases
2) Enable students to develop effective vocabulary learning strategies: creating situations, classifying, visual aids and organizing them into meaningful text.
Teaching focuses: how to learn to use those words and expressions through setting meaningful situation and context, for the purpose of communicating
Teaching difficulties: how to set meaningful situations that are obvious enough for students to associate the words and phrases to the pictures and context.
Teaching aids: PPT; other normal teaching aids; pictures
Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Review relative words and expressions
Review those words and phrases that have been mentioned in the text. Using a passage to retell the reading text and notice the key words and phrases. Activate the vocabulary first.
