A large mirror-like plate collects and focuses the sunrays to produce heat. The heat will cook food. Not only is solar energy used for producing heat, but it can also be turned into electricity by using solar panels. Solar photovoltaic energy or solar PV for short is a solar power technology that uses solar panels to convert light from the sun directly into electricity. As we all know, solar power comes from sunlight. Devices which convert light into electricity are solar panels, known as photovoltaic, which means “light-electricity” . Solar panels use photovoltaic cells （电池） to produce electricity. The solar panels are made of solar cells. They are attached to circuit ( 电路 ). Once the light strikes the cell, light is converted into electricity that flows through the circuit. As new solar technologies develop, the costs of solar panels are decreasing while their efficiency is increasing. So far, solar energy has attracted worldwide attention with its great advantages.
