Chapter 14 Adjectives Warm-up How do you know adjectives? What is an adjective? An adjective modifies a noun or a pronoun by describing, identifying, or quantifying words. An adjective usually precedes the noun or the pronoun which it modifies. Types of adjectives A. Main types a. Qualitative adjectives b. Classifying adjectives c. Color adjectives d. Emphasizing adjectives e. –ing adjectives f. –ed adjectives g. Compound adjectives Qualitative adjectives Adjectives show the quality of people or thing e.g. He’s the happiest man on earth. It was a lovely quiet beach. You have an honest face. Classifying adjectives Adjectives show which type the adjective belongs to e.g. We must learn to use our cultural heritage.
