The application of metaphor is not limited in literary texts and a great number of business and scientific definitio have been formed through metaphor. Thus metaphor does not only provide a new way in undetanding of the texts and structure, but also eures the texts lively, readable and favorable to reade. Metaphor and its essence Metaphor has been coidered as the deviation of normal language ever since the time of Aristotle. Not until 1930s had people jumped out of the lexical level of metaphor research and Lakoff and Johon，in their famous Metaphor we live by 1980，pointed out that metaphor actually lives a pervasive life around us. Most of our daily concepts are essentially metaphorical. The definition of metaphor from Lakoff and Johon is that the essence of metaphor is to undetand and experience one object from something else. What Lakoff and Johon emphasis is that there is literally no objective similarities between one field of experience and another，but only the similarity of experience itself. The world in our mind is built on our cognition mechanism, and metaphor, as a major cognitive way of human beings, will conceptualize the world we live in. Ⅱ.
